MZIP-4K Impulse overvoltage protection module.
1. Purpose
1.1 The impulse surge protection module MZIP RS485-4k (hereinafter MZIP) is designed to protect physical RS485 interfaces of end equipment included in the information highway from damage by high-voltage voltage pulses. They occur in physical communication lines under the influence of lightning discharges and when switching large current values by high-voltage switches at power facilities.
2. Technical characteristics
2.1 The module has 4 independent channels of RS-485 physical interface protection
2.2 Electrical parameters of each of the channels:
value of nominal operating voltage, 7/12 V;
the maximum long-term value of the operating voltage. 7.5/13.3 V;
nominal operating current value, 200 mA;
type of current, impulse;
the value of the maximum discharge current (8/20 µs) at a voltage of 850 V (5 kV/µs) — 4 kA (pulse);
the value of the nominal discharge current (0.2 s) at a voltage of 600 V — 1 A (active);
protection activation time (local disconnection of communication circuits) — <1 μs;
capacitive load on one line — < 76 pF;
DC resistance (two lines) — < 52 ohms.
2.3 High-speed self-recovery current fuses are installed on the lines of each of the channels.
2.4 Long-term blocking of erroneous power supply voltage of 230 V (±10%) alternating current, with a frequency of 50 Hz, or 220 V direct current, to the information circuits of connected devices.
2.5 Design parameters:
plastic case, in which the MZIP and connecting board* are installed. Mounting the case on a 35 mm DIN rail. Degree of mechanical protection — IR44;
external connections through plug-in pads «under the screw» from the bottom of the case. Cross-section of wires (except PE conductor) — 0.25 — 2.5 mm²;
overall dimensions 151 x 123 x 60 mm (L x W x D). Weight — 0.375 kg.
*Note. Instead of a connecting board, a specialized module for converting RS232/485 interfaces to 4 channels of the MPI 232/485 type can be installed. In this way, the task of protecting the lines of 4 RS485 channels from impulse overvoltages with a compact arrangement of modules in one housing is simultaneously solved.
2.6 Operating conditions:
The range of working temperatures is from minus 40 to 90 °C.
Relative air humidity up to 85% at a temperature of 35 °C without moisture condensation.
It is installed in rooms without increased danger.
3. Supply set
MZIP module in a case with a set of relevant parts of connectors and 2 limiting terminals — 1 set.
Technical passport — 1 copy.
